oven rack brooklyn repair

3 methods how to clean your oven racks

  1. Sprinkle baking soda on a wire oven rack and then dampen the vinegar. After the foaming stops, pour hot water into the tub until it completely covers the grates and leave them overnight. In the morning, wipe down the grates with an old tea towel to remove grease and dirt. Use a stiff bristled brush to remove any burnt residue. Then rinse the grates before placing them back in the oven.
  1. Fill the tub with warm water to cover the oven rack. Place the oven racks on the baking trays and add half a glass of dish soap. Leave everything overnight. Drain the tub in the morning and wipe down the grates with damp towels.
  1. This is a fairly simple method, but also the most dangerous. Place the wire oven rack in a large, new waste bag. Add half a liter of ammonia, tie the bag tightly and leave overnight. The racks do not need to be covered with ammonia as the fumes will circulate and do their job. The next morning you will need gloves and safety glasses. Open the trash bag in a well-ventilated area. Do not inhale vapor escaping from the bag! Spray the grates thoroughly with a hose and watch the grease dissolve. After the grates have been washed and dried, return them to the oven.

With these simple and practical tricks, your oven racks will shine like new!
